January updates and self-improvement recap
starting new habits and maintaining some old habits
Hi!
It’s technically only been two weeks since I started my “new year / month” since the first two weeks of January were finals, but I did start some things in the last two weeks.
Exercise
My goal is to exercise once a week. So far, I went jogging on both Fridays in the last two weeks of January.
I also want to have around 3000 steps a day. So I’ve been making it a point to walk around even when I don’t have plans. I know 3000 steps isn’t a lot, and many people reach 8000 steps a day, but I don’t think it’s feasible for me. Most of the time I’m at my desk studying or doing club committee work, and when I’m relaxing, I’m sitting down reading or watching a movie. I’m only walking when I’m running errands, out with friends, or intentionally exercising.
Friends & family
I hung out with friends a few times the week after my exams. But for the last week of January, I decided to spend time alone and with family.
Extracurriculars
I’ve been doing a lot of event planning and other club committee tasks. I’m trying to settle everything that can be done earlier now, so I don’t have too much on my plate when classes start again next week.
Me-time
I’ve been spending most of my me-time in my room watching movies and shows, and reading. I know it’s not the most productive, but it really helps me recharge.
Cooking & baking
I’ve been learning some cooking skills from my mom. I’m definitely not an expert, but practice makes perfect. I also baked brownies this week. They turned out really well, better than the batch I made last year.
Grades
I just got my exam results back and… it’s not too good. I did decent overall, but I didn’t do that well for the subjects that contribute to my IFoA exemptions. I managed to get another paper’s exemption, yay, but the result was way lower than what I expected. There’s also another subject that I took that’s grouped with a year 2 and another year 3 subject, to get an exemption for another paper. So far my score is on the borderline of getting an exemption so that means I have to buck up and do really well for the other two upcoming subjects.
That’s all for this week, have a great week ahead!
- Grace :)
I post every Saturday. Stay tuned!
